Wills, Probate and Tax
When someone dies the estate has to be wound up and paid out to the heirs. This involves a legal and financial procedure, which is sometimes complicated. We have wide experience of dealing with estates, whatever their value and complexity, and we can offer a thorough and sympathetic service leading to the efficient settlement of the estate.
A careful Will is essential to ensure that your affairs are in good order and your wishes will be carried out effectively. It can also lead to valuable savings of tax for the benefit of your heirs. In advising on Wills we consider our clients' affairs in detail, including tax aspects, and we aim to prepare clear Wills promptly. We are able to store completed Wills, without charge.
Powers of attorney can be of great benefit in dealing with the affairs of someone who is ill, incapacitated or abroad for an extended period. They can be made at any time and kept in reserve in case of future need, and it is often convenient to consider making a power of attorney at the same time as a Will.
We also give personal and financial advice to our clients in areas such as financial planning, trusts and taxation, and we advise on matters relating to the Court of Protection. We offer a full service to older clients, and we are happy to arrange home visits or visits to a residential home if desired.
